The Wyoming Valley Watershed Coalition looks forward to continuing the annual tradition of a Spring Streamside Cleanup that will focus on streams in the Susquehanna River Basin throughout the Greater Wyoming Valley Community.
The Streamside Cleanup Steering Committee is pleased to announce that Gardner Creek in Laflin/Plains Township and Sugar Notch Run in Hanover Township/Ashley/Sugar Notch Borough will be the focus of our 2005 Streamside Cleanup Program. These areas were selected after considering the local support at the nominated sites, accessibility and safety of the volunteers and details on the cleanup site available. We appreciate the nominations that have been submitted and will continue to try to address these area at other times during the year. In addition to the cleanup work being sponsored by the Coalition, Dallas Borough will continue their work along Toby Creek and Forty Fort Borough will continue their cleanup along Abraham's Creek during the 2005 cleanup event.
Our 2005 Streamside Cleanup Program is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2005. The Streamside Cleanup provides a great opportunity for local residents, groups and businesses to join together and improve the quality of our local environment. This event falls just after the recognition of the 35th anniversary of the first Earth Day on April 22 and is part of the statewide "Great Pennsylvania Cleanup" Program.
